NEWS: Disney World Water Park Prices Raised Again
In case you’ve missed the news this morning, Disney has been hit with another round of theme park price increases affecting both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
One of the areas this increase affects is the water parks at Disney World: namely, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.
While price increases are sadly a commonly seen occurrence at Disney World, the water park side of this update may have left guests scratching their heads a little.
Don’t go reaching for your swimsuits quite yet, as we’re going to break down what the new prices of a water park ticket are going to be, how it will affect guests, and why it’s got us a bit more confused than normal. Let’s go…
The Price Increase
So, how much have the tickets gone up by?
Well, for a guest to purchase a 1-day ticket to either Walt Disney World water park, the new cost would be $74, plus tax. This reflects a $5 increase per ticket.
Alternatively, guests may purchase this 1-day ticket option subject to blackout dates throughout the year. This would cost $64.
For Just $5 More…
I don’t know about you, but I originally read the news above and thought, huh. Didn’t they just announce a new ticket option for the water parks?
And the answer is yes, yes they did!
Just two weeks ago, the Disney Water Park Seasonal Pass became a thing, offering guests full access to both water parks for a one-time price, valid through May 2024. For ages 10 and above, this costs $79.
Now, don’t thank me too much, but I took the time to crunch some numbers for you here. Turns out, if you pay a whopping $5 more than the cost of a 1-day ticket, you can gain entry to both water parks as many times as you like, right through next spring.
We don’t say this a lot when it comes to Disney ticket prices, but that really is some kind of bargain!
The Plot Thickens
Now, being aware of these price increases is one thing, but actually having a water park to visit? Well, that’s a whole other barrel of fish.
As MickeyBlog reported just yesterday, there’s something peculiar going on with the water park opening hours at Walt Disney World through the winter. From November 5th, no opening times are shown at all for Typhoon Lagoon, nor for any date right through the calendar until April 7th.
To make things even more peculiar, Blizzard Beach is still in the middle of a long-term closure, and that isn’t showing any upcoming opening hours, either!
While it’s normal for Disney to close one of the water parks at a time through the quieter winter seasons, it’s almost unheard of for both of them to be closed at once.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the calendars to see if either park opens any time soon but, until then, maybe don’t go springing for those higher-priced tickets until you know they’re actually going to be usable!
Anyway, we hope you appreciated that “deep dive” into the current situation at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.
What news will come next, we wonder? Who knows! As always, you can be sure to stay tuned to MickeyBlog.com for all the latest updates as they happen!
