Disney+ Animated Series ‘Tiana’ Adds Joyce Sherri As Lead Writer and Director
Disney fans will soon get to catch up with Tiana, Navine, and the rest of The Princess and the Frog cast when Tiana debuts on Disney+ next year.
The new animated from Walt Disney Animation Studios will follow Tiana as she “sets off for a grand new adventure as the newly crowned Princess of Maldonia, but a calling to her New Orleans past isn’t far behind.”
Just like The Princess and the Frog, music will be at the heart of the new series, although the exact format of the show has yet to be revealed.

What we do know, however, is that Disney+ has signed on Joyce Sherri as the show’s lead writer and director.

Sherri is perhaps best known as a writer on the Netflix horror miniseries Midnight Mass. Additionally, however, she has written and directed short films such as Beauty, Forever, Down, Down, Baby, and the Family Romance. Additionally, her feature Sweet Sixteen won the 2020 Slamdance screenplay competition and was selected for the 2021 Sundance Institute Screenwriters Intensive.
Disney originally announced Tiana in 2020, as part of a quartet of Disney+ animated series based on popular films. In addition to Zootopia+ and Baymax! which both debuted in 2022, Disney had also announced a Moana animated series.
Sherri is joining a production team that includes Nathan Curtis producing and Jennifer Lee and Stell Meghie as executive producers.
While Tiana was initially expected to debut in 2023, it has now been delayed until 2024.
