Charlie Cox Is Returning as Daredevil Sooner Than Anticipated
While the future release of Daredevil: Born Again remains cloudy after Disney removed the upcoming series from its release schedule, fans will not have to wait for the Daredevil reboot to see Charlie Cox reprise his role as the blind hero.
According to a synopsis filed with the United States Copyright Office, Cox is set to reprise his role in the upcoming Hawkeye spinoff Echo.
What Is ‘Echo’
Set to debut on Disney+ in 2024, Echo will see Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) struggling to reconnect with her Native American roots, all while trying to take over the operation formerly run by Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin.
In addition to Alqua and Charlie Cox, the show will star Chaske Spencer as Henry, Tantoo Cardinal as Chula, Devery Jacobs as Bonnie, Cody Lightning as Cousin Biscuits, Zahn McClarnon, and Graham Green.
An Update On Production
When speaking to Collider, producer Stephen Broussard gave an update on the show’s production.
“[Production on Echo] is going well. It’s very different. Like, talking about Werewolf by Night to this. It’s a very different tonal sort of thing,” the producer explained.
“I don’t want to say too much because there’s not a whole lot out there in the world, but it feels very grounded, it feels very spiritual in ways that feel fresh for us,” he continued. “Alaqua as the lead is incredibly compelling. I’m sort of hard-pressed to think of something that it feels like outside in the broader realm of the MCU, let alone within what we’ve done here. So stay tuned on that really cool stuff.”
While fans are obviously excited for Devildevil to return for Daredevil: Born Again, it’s great to hear that we will see the return of Cox (and perhaps D’Onofrio) soon.
Echo is set to premiere on Disney+ in January 2024.
