Winona Ryder and Dan Levy Shine in ‘Haunted Mansion’ Deleted Scene
Disney’s Haunted Mansion may not have been a box office success, but as a long-time fan of the classic Disney attraction, I absolutely adored the film.
Justin Simien’s tale of a haunted New Orleans mansion felt like a love letter to Disney’s Haunted Mansion attractions and the generations of fans that have grown up with the rides.

Although most of the film takes place in the Gracey Manor, which gives the film its title, Haunted Mansion also takes a detour to the Crump Manor. It is a location that will look familiar to some Mansion fans.
A Nod To Walt Disney World
While The film’s Gracy Manor was clearly inspired by Disneyland Haunted Mansion, Crump Manor was designed as a clear reference to Walt Disney World’s version of the attraction.

In the film, Ben (LaKeith Stanfield, Father Kent (Owen Wilson), and Travis (Chase W. Dillon) visit the Crump Manor in order to search for items belonging to Alistair Crump (Jared Leto). Crump is the evil spirit that is haunting the Gracey mansion.

While the inclusion of Crump Manor was a fun nod to Walt Disney World fans, the other Haunted Mansion was also the setting of two of the film’s cameos.
Ryder and Levy’s Extended Cameos
In a deleted scene from the film, Winona Ryder plays a dismissive hostess who greets Ben and his comrades upon their entry into the Crump Manor. After being ushered to wait in the foyer for the upcoming tour, the trio is introduced to tour guide Vic (Eugine Levy).

While the reasons the scene was cut remain unclear (it was likely a pacing decision), it is great to not only get to see more of Ryder and Levy’s performances but also a closer look at some of Crump Manor’s details.
