Welcome back to our continuing trip through the history of the Walt Disney Company. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- September 21.
September 21 was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the debut of a new fireworks show, the premiere of a Magic Kingdom parade, and the release of a Disney video game.
Hockey Homicide Released (1945)
On this day in 1945, the Goofy short Hockey Homicide was released.
In the cartoon, fans brawl with each other while rooting for their favorite hockey teams.
Cold Turkey Released (1951)
On this day in 1951, Disney’s Pluto cartoon Cold Turkey was released.
In the cartoon, Pluto and Milton the cat feud over a roast turkey.
IllumiNations 25 Debuts (1996)
On this day in 1996, IllumiNations 25 debuted at Epcot.
The new fireworks show was created for Walt Disney World’s 25th anniversary.
Share a Dream Come True Premieres (2001)
On this day in 2001, Share a Dream Come True Parade had a soft opening at the Magic Kingdom.
The new parade was part of Disney’s 100 Years of Magic Celebration and would officially debut on October 1.
Toy Story Mania! Wii Game Released (2009)
On this day in 2009, Disney released the Toy Story Mania! Wii game.
The new video game was based on the Disney Parks ride.
Space Shuttle Endeavor Flies Over Disneyland (2012)
Finally, on this day in 2012, thousands of guests gathered at the Disneyland Resort to witness the flyover of the Space Shuttle Endeavor.
The retired space shuttle was making its way to its new home in Southern California, bolted to the top of a modified Boeing 747.
