Disney Releases ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Trailer!
Percy Jackson fans will get a chance to return to Camp Half-Blood when Percy Jackson and the Olympians premieres on Disney+ on December 20.
Based on the popular young-adult fantasy book series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians will star Walker Scobell as the titular 12-year-old boy who learns that he has divine powers.

According to the upcoming series’ official synopsis, “‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson (Scobell), who’s just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover (Simhadri) and Annabeth (Jeffries), Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.”
The First ‘Percy Jackson’ Series
While Percy Jackson has previously been adapted into two films — 2010’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and 2013’s Percy Jackson: Seas of Monsters, the upcoming Disney+ show will be the first time the stories have been adapted into a series.

The upcoming Disney+ series will consist of eight episodes, with a pilot written by Riordan and Jon Steinberg.
Disney Releases Teaser Trailer
Ahead of the show’s December debut, Disney has released the first trailer for the upcoming series.

In the clip, Percy Jackson is established as an average, perhaps slightly nerdy, young boy. One day, however, Percy realizes that he has supernatural powers.
As it turns out, the stories that his mother had told him about Greek gods and “half-bloods” were all true.

In the trailer, Percy is then taken to Camp Half-Blood where he learns that the “Master Bolt” has been stolen, and it is up to him to get it back.

For a streaming service that has had a hard time finding successful shows outside Marvel and Star Wars, Disney+ has a lot riding on the success of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
