Disney Announces Plan to Rapidly Expand Parks and Cruise Line Over Next 10 Years
A huge investor summit is currently underway at Walt Disney World, and from preliminary reports, the outcome of the summit will result in a MAJOR expansion of Disney Parks around the globe and Disney Cruise Line over the next 10 years.
To start, The Walt Disney Company has just announced a $60 BILLON investment into its Parks and Cruise Line over the next 10 years. This is almost DOUBLE what they have spent over the last 10 years!
The Walt Disney Company will use this massive capital allotment to focus on three main areas: storytelling, scale, and fans.
The Magic of Disney Storytelling
As one can imagine, Disney will continue incorporating iconic Disney Storytelling in its Parks and cruise ships, as this is where that Disney magic really comes to life.
Previously, Disney has brought iconic Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars stories to life with Cars Land in Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World and Disneyland Park in the Disneyland Resort.
But, with this $60 billion capital expenditure, there is more storytelling to come with newer Disney classics!

Currently, Disney is bringing a Frozen-themed land to life in Hong Kong Disneyland, Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris, and the Tokyo Disney Resort.
Over at the Shanghai Disney Resort, a new Zootopia-themed land will soon debut.

But, per today’s announcement from Disney, there is much more to come! Per today’s release, “Disney will explore even more characters and franchises, including some that haven’t been leveraged extensively to date, as it embarks on a new period of significant growth domestically and internationally in its parks and resorts.”
This announcement ties in with recent announcements from the Destination D23 Expo where it was announced that DINOLAND in Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be re-themed to “Tropical Americas” with possible inspiration from Disney films such as Indiana Jones and Encanto.
Just last week, documents also were leaked that pointed to at least one more Park being built at the Disneyland Resort!

Increase in Scale
Did you know that the Walt Disney World Resort is double the size of the entire island of Manhattan and that Disneyland is the most “Instagramed” place in the world?!
In addition, tens of millions of Guests utilize Disney transportation each year, while Disney Cruise Line sails to 94 ports in different countries.

But, per today’s announcement, there is much more to come!
Disney indicated that Disney Parks have over 1,000 free acres that can be used for future development – this is in addition to the projects that are already underway. This land is also equal to what could be a total of seven new Disneyland Parks. SEVEN!

In just a few weeks, Disney Cruise Line will enter the Australian and New Zealand markets for the first time ever with the Disney Wonder to home port in that region of the world with special Disney Magic at Sea sailings for periods in 2023, 2024, and into 2025.
Speaking of new markets, Disney Cruise Line will homeport its newest ship, the Disney Adventure, in Singapore starting in 2025 with its first-ever sailings in the Asia-Pacific region.

Disney Cruise Line also has two new ships entering its fleet in fiscal year 2025 and 2026 to increase its footprint at sea even more.

Reaching New Fans
With this $60 billion dollar investment, Disney will focus on bringing in new fans.
Currently, a whopping seven Disney Parks worldwide are among the top 10 of all theme parks visited annually each year. The number one park of them all? You guessed it, the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World!
Even though approximately 100 million guests visit Disney Parks yearly, Disney sees the potential to welcome even more guests.
Per internal research, Disney estimates there are around “700 million people with high Disney affinity it has yet to reach with its Parks. In fact, for every one guest who visits a Disney Park, there are more than ten people with Disney affinity who do not visit the Parks.”

With a larger footprint and more offerings for Guests, Disney hopes to target those who love Disney but have not yet visited a park while maintaining strong relationships with fans worldwide.
