‘Elemental’ Breaks Disney+ Records and Delivers Most Viewed Premiere of the Year
Elemental has continued its hot run, with a blazing debut on Disney+.
The latest release from Disney and Pixar was the most-watched movie premiere of the year on Disney+ and among the streaming service’s Top 10 movie premieres of all time.
In total, Elemental racked up 26.4 million views in its first five days of streaming. That number was the most number of views since the premiere of Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red in March 2022.
Perhaps even more impressively, Elemental had the most viewed Disney+ movie premiere of all time in Latin America, breaking the record previously held by Turning Red.
Quite the Comeback Story
The record-breaking debut on Disney+ was just the latest in a string of good news for Elemental. After a disastrous opening weekend, the film bounced back and found its audience.
Elemental would go on to earn $484 million at the box office, in addition to holding a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an “A” CinemaScore.
In the end, the film grossed $154 million at the domestic box office which was more than five times its domestic opening weekend total of $30 million.
Elemental was the first Pixar film to accomplish the feat since Toy Story in 1995. In the end, by letting Elemental breathe, Disney turned a film that looked like a box-office bomb into a massive success.
Directed by Peter Sohn, Elemental has proven to be a comeback hit for Pixar, and perhaps a lesson to studios everywhere about the importance of patience.
Elemental is now streaming on Disney+.
