Tiana’s Palace to Get Authentic Eats Directly From New Orleans
If you’ve been following along with us here at MickeyBlog you’ll know that Tiana’s Palace at New Orleans Square in Disneyland will have its official opening tomorrow (September 7th.) Today, an interesting fact was revealed about the menu at Tiana’s Palace which will have a focus on Southern cuisine specifically beloved dishes from New Orleans. According to a recent piece in the OC Register, the bread used in the po’boy and muffuletta sandwiches is directly sourced from a New Orleans bakery!

“The ingredients are critical to tell the story,” Disneyland Resort Culinary Director John State said. “Sourcing this bread wasn’t an easy task. We tried to duplicate the bread here. We tried to
make it ourselves. We tried to work with somebody local to make it for us and we just couldn’t get there.”
We love Disney’s commitment to every last detail and flavor profile and can’t wait to try the new items on the menu. The two entrees featuring Louisiana-sourced bread are as follows:
Beef Po’boy Sandwich
Slow-cooked Beef in Gravy dressed with Shredded Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, and Mayonnaise on Toasted New Orleans French Bread, served with Red Beans and Rice and House-made Pickles
$15.99
Muffuletta Sandwich
Mortadella, Salami, Rosemary Ham, Cheddar, Provolone, and House-made Olive Relish on Toasted New Orleans Sesame Seed Bread, served with Red Beans and rice and House-made Pickles
$14.99

But those aren’t the only items being shipped from the Big Easy. According to the OC Register, other ingredients include andouille sausage, cane syrup, rice, Tabasco, and Crystal hot sauces.
To come up with the incredible menu items, Disneyland Chefs visited 18 New Orleans restaurants in two and a half days to make sure that their dishes were similar to those you’d get down on the bayou!

On top of the authentic southern menu, the aesthetic of Tiana’s Palace was inspired by the New Orleans’ French Quarter. The quick service spot promises a welcoming atmosphere and lots of tiny tributes to Disney’s beloved animated film The Princess and the Frog.
