This Day in Disney History- September 6
Welcome back to our magical trip through the history of The Walt Disney Company. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- September 6.
September 6th was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the end of a special Disney parade, the premiere of a Disney Channel show, and the closure of a Disney California Adventure attraction. So, let’s get started!
Alice Chames the Fish Released (1926)
On this day in 1926, Alice Charms the Fish was released.
The short featured Alice going fishing, where she charms a fish ashore with her flute. The film is now considered lost.
America on Parade Ends (1976)
On this day in 1976, America on Parde ended at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
The parade was created in celebration of Disney’s Bicentennial and debuted in the summer of 1975.
EPCOT Center Opens For Construction Preview (1982)
On this day in 1982, EPCOT Center opened for a Family Construction Preview.
The park, which was still a month away from officially debuting was opened up for construction workers and their families.
Adventures in Wonderland Premieres (1993)
On this day in 1993, Adventures in Wonderland premiered on the Disney Channel.
The new series starred Elisabeth Harnois as Alice.
Waking Sleeping Beauty Premiers (2009)
On this day in 2009, Waking Sleeping Beauty premiered at the Telluride Film Festival.
The documentary was produced by Don Hahn and told the story of the Walt Disney Feature Animation from the release of The Fox and the Hound in 1981 until The Lion King in 1994.
The Mailboomer Closes (2010)
On this day 2010, the Mailboomer closed at Disney California Adventure.
The thrill ride was removed as part of the retheming of Paradise Pier.
