Disney Lorcana Starter Packs Sell Out At Disney Springs
Chaos descended on Disney Springs today as hundreds of Disney Lorcana fans lined up to try and get their hands on the first Walt Disney World releases of the new trading cards.
Due to the scarcity and popularity of the new trading card game, Disney limited guests to two gift sets and two starter decks per guest. Additionally, no holds, phone orders, or home shipments were provided.
Lorcana Arrives At Walt Disney World
The World of Disney offered three different starter packs (Emerald & Ruby, Sapphire & Steel, and Amber & Amethyst), as well as a gift set containing two oversized foil cards, four booster packs, two tracker tokens, and two playable foil cards.
Lorcana starter packs cost $16.99 while the gift pack was available for $29.99. No discounts were accepted on Lorcana purchases.
Fans Rushed To Get Starter Packs
The Disney Springs store opened at 9 a.m. this morning, although guests began lining up prior to the store unlocking its doors. Guests waiting in line were given laminated sheets that showed what items The World of Disney was selling, and some background information on the game.
By 10:30 a.m., the three Lorcana starter sets were sold out, although gift packages were still available.
What Is Disney Lorcana
Since its launch on August 18, Disney Lorcana has proven to be extremely popular. With fans lining up to get their hands on the newest trading card game, Lorcana cards have sold for a lot of money on eBay.
Lorcana is Disney’s first real foray into the trading card game industry. The new game allows players to wield magic inks and the power of Lorcana to assemble their team of Disney characters. Some characters will be familiar friends. Others will be fantastically reimagined.
The trading card game is set to hit big-box retailers on September 1.
