Disney Unveils Helpful Update to How Dining Reservations are Made
We’ve got some exciting news for those planning a Disney World or Disneyland getaway. Disney has recently updated the way that advanced dining reservations are made making the process more user-friendly. Disney started slowly rolling out the new dining reservations update earlier this month and yesterday we noticed that our My Disney Experience app has been officially updated. We’ll share screenshots with you below!
In order to simplify the reservation process users making reservations via the My Disney Experience or Disneyland apps will now be able to see ALL dining reservation slots that are available at your select restaurant.
Those familiar with either app will know that previously you could only see a few available times. This meant that guests would often have to perform several searches under one restaurant to find your preferred time. Now, you can see the big picture making it easier to find dining options that fit into your daily plans.
Another small but very helpful touch is that dining reservations are now sorted by meal period. This makes it easy to determine whether you’re enjoying breakfast, lunch, brunch, etc. Under the new system, once you pick a dining time, you’ll see what menu you’ll be ordering from.
Last, but certainly not least is my favorite new addition to the Disney app dining upgrade.
If you made a reservation but need to cancel at the last minute, you’re in luck. Disneyland and Disney World have updated their dining reservation cancellation window.
Previously, if you needed to cancel a dining reservation you had up until 24 hours beforehand to make the change. Failure to cancel a day ahead would result in a $10 per person cancellation fee.
Now you can cancel up to two hours before your reserved time without penalty. That means more flexibility when your plans change!
The change to the cancellation period means that guests at the parks may also benefit from last-minute availability under the new system making it easier to find nearby dining options.
It should also be noted that enhancements are not limited to advanced dining reservations. The system has upgraded its mobile ordering process making it easy for guests to find mobile ordering options nearby.
We love the greater flexibility that comes with these new dining enhancements.
