‘The Muppets Take Manhattan’ Is Getting A 4K and Blu-ray Release
It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights because The Muppets Take Manhattan is coming to 4K!
That’s right! The third Muppet feature film, and the last one overseen by Jim Henson is getting a new home media release courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
The Muppets Take Manhattan
The Muppets Take Manhattan sees Kermit and the gang head to New York to try and turn their humble stage musical, “Manhattan Melodies,” into a Broadway production.
Originally released in 1984, The Muppets Take Manhattan was a hit with critics and Muppet fans alike. Unlike other Muppet properties, however, Sony owns the rights to the movie. Thus, the film has not been available on Disney+.
A Remastered Film and Bonus Features Galore
Soon, fans will have a chance to bring a remastered version of the film home, when The Muppets Take Manhattan arrives on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on October 24, 2023.
For the UHD version, Manhattan has been “remastered in 4K resolution from the original camera negative with Dolby Vision,” and features an “all-new Dolby Atmos immersive audio [and] 4K picture and Atmos sound mix approved by director Frank Oz.” In addition, the release will feature a brand-new commentary track by Oz!
The Blue-ray disc on the other hand will include a high-definition version of the film, along with special features that include an archiveved interview with Jim Henson and “Muppetisms” featuring the likes of Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Pepe the King Prawn, and Fozzie Bear.
So, get ready! In just over a month, the Muppets will be “Together Again!”
