This Day in Disney History- August 19
Welcome back to our magical foray through the history of the Walt Disney Company. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- August 19.
August 19th was a slower day in Disney history with the release of a couple of Donald cartoons, the opening of a Disneyland attraction, and the debut of a new Disney XD animated series.
Lullaby Land Was Released (1933)
On this day in 1933, the Silly Symphony cartoon Lullaby Land was released.

The cartoon told the story of a baby who falls asleep and dreams of a land where “powder puffs and binkies grow on trees”.
The Whalers Released (1938)
On this day in 1938, the Mickey Mouse cartoon The Whalers.

In the short, Donald, Mickey, and Goofy try to capture a whale.
Bearly Asleep Released (1955)
On this day in 1955, the Disney short Bearly Asleep was released.

In the cartoon, Humphrey the bear is kicked out of his cave for his obnoxious snoring and has to find a new place to hibernate for the winter.
Casa de Fritos Opens (1955)
Also on this day in 1955, Casa de Fritos opened in Disneyland.

The Mexican Eatery featured a Frito chip-dispensing machine.
The Timekeeper Reopens (2001)
On this day in 2001, The Timekeeper once again opened at the Magic Kingdom.

The Diseny World attraction was opened for the next month to facilitate the refurbishment of it’s a small world, Astro Orbiter, and the Hall of Presidents.
Valiant Released (2005)
On this day in 2005, Valiant opened in theaters.

Set in 1944, the film told the story of a woodland pigeon who dreamed of becoming a great hero someday.
The Proud Family Movie Airs (2005)
Also on this day in 2005, The Proud Family Movie aired on the Disney Channel.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire- Play It! Closes (2006)
On this day in 2006, Who Wants to be a Millionaire- Play It! closed at the Disney-MGM Studios.

The Marketplace Boat Dock and Saratoga Bridge Open At Downtown Disney (2014)
On this day in 2014, the Marketplace Boat Dock and Saratoga Bridge at Downtown Disney in Florida officially opened.
The bridge provided pedestrian access to Downtown Disney for guests staying at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.

The Marketplace Boat Dock, transported guests from the Marketplace Bus Loop to Downtown Disney’s West Side and Pleasure Island.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Debuts on Disney XD
Finally, on this day in 2017, Marvel’s Spider-Man debuted on Disney XD.
