August 16th was a really slow day in Disney history, but it still featured the release of a True Life Adventure, the debut of an iconic Disneyland attraction, and the debut of an official Disney blog. So, let’s get started!
The Vanishing Prairie Released (1954)
On this day in 1954, Disney’s True Life Adventure The Vanishing Prairie was released.
The documentary showcased the plan and animal life of the vast American prairie.
Disneyland’s Dumbo The Flying Elephant Opened (1955)
On this day in 1955, Disneyland’s Dumbo The Flying Elephant opened in Fantasyland.
The iconic attraction has been soaring above Fantasyland ever since!
The Fire Truck Arrives On Main Street (1958)
On this day in 1958, a motorized fire truck was added to Disneyland’s Main Street USA.
The newest addition to the Main Street Vehicles is still running to the day.
The Black Hole Returns to Theaters (1985)
On this day in 1985, The Black Hole was released in theaters for the third time.
the 1979 film was the most expensive picture ever produced by Disney at the time.
New Disney Character Stamps Debut (2007)
On this day in 2007, the United States Post Office debuted a new 41-cent Disney character stamps at Walt Disney World.
The four stamps featured Dumbo & Timothy Mouse, Peter Pan & Tinker Bell, Sorcerer Mickey and Aladdin & Genie.
The Disney Post Debuts (2012)
Finally, on this day in 2012, the DIsney Post debuted.
The new blog became the official outlet of The Walt Disney Company.
