Fabulous Ways To Celebrate Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month at Disney World
Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month officially kicks off one month from today (September 15 – October 15, 2023.) Disney World will be celebrating Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month with special offerings. To give you a bit of time to plan out your visit, here are a handful of things coming your way next month that you won’t want to miss.
While we’re a month away, here are the top things I’m excited for:
Say ‘Hola’ to your favorite amigos
Starting on September 15, 2023, Mirabel from Disney’s Encanto will begin meeting guests in her magical Casita. Best of all, this special character encounter will extend beyond Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month and will be available year-round!
But that’s not all Madrigal family news. Bruno, Mirabel’s Uncle will be added to the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade at the Magic Kingdom beginning on September 15. He’ll be joined by Miguel from Coco, Princess Elena of Avalor, Jose Carioca, and more!
¡Que empiece la música!
This year during the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival visitors can enjoy an all-star musical line-up as part of the Eat to the Beat Concert Series. This year’s guests can enjoy the most Hispanic talent EVER! Here’s a look at some of the acts that you won’t want to miss.
- Monsieur Periné – Sept. 15, 2023
- Raul Acosta and Oro Sólido – Sept. 16-17, 2023
- Bacilos – Sept. 18, 2023
- Los Amigos Invisibles – Sept. 22-24, 2023
- Latin Ambition – Sept. 27-28, 2023
Performances take place at American Gardens Theatre with three performances nightly at 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8 p.m.
Hispanic & Latin Dishes at Global Marketplaces For EPCOT’s Food & Wine Festival
You’ll find several Hispanic and Latin dishes at the Global Marketplaces at EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival. Highlights include:
- Charcuterie in a Cup – Spain
- Pao de Quijo – Brazil
- Guava Cake with Whipped Cream and Coconut – Shimmering Sips
But the awesome eats aren’t limited just to EPCOT. Disney Springs and several of Disney World’s Resort hotels will be getting into the spirit of Spanish and Latin America Heritage Month. Here are some treats to be on the lookout for:
- Sweet Mojito Taco – Amorette’s Patisserie – Disney Springs
- Guava Ganache Square – The Ganachery – Disney Springs
- Bruno’s Vision Cake – The Artist’s Palette at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa & Good’s Food to Go at Disney’s Old Key West Resort.
Art and Cultura
In honor of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, the Disney Springs Art Walk will welcome TRATOS, a Miami-based Cuban couple, who will live paint their art this September.
Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as part of Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month, you can learn to draw Dante from Pixar’s Coco and hear about a featured Hispanic animator at The Animation Experience which is located at Conservation Station.
Those staying at a Walt Disney World Resort will also want to check out the Movies Under the Stars schedule. Throughout the month you’ll find movies inspired by Latin America including Encanto and Coco. Screenings will take place on select nights during the month.
Keep the Celebración Going
Also, remember that celebrating Hispanic and Latin American cultures and traditions doesn’t stop on October 15th. At Disney Springs you’ll find a variety of Hispanic-owned specialty shops and eateries including;
- Jaleo by Jose Andres
- Frontera Cocina
- Crystal Arts by Arribas Brothers.
You’ll also find official Disney merchandise themed after Hispanic and Latin American-inspired characters like the tie-dye Coco shirt pictured above!
If you’re visiting Walt Disney World from September 15 – October 15, 2023, then be on the lookout for specially-themed resort buses and Skyliner cars. We’re told that Miguel from Coco will be featured on one of the Walt Disney World buses and that the Madrigal Family will be making a Skyliner car appearance!
