Man Who Visited Disneyland Nearly 3000 Days In A Row Will Not Try to Beat His Streak

By now I am sure that you have heard the story of Jeff Reitz, the Disneyland super-fan who set the Guinness World Record for most consecutive daily visits to the the Happiest Place on Earth,

Reitz, who lives in Huntington Beach, California visited the park 2,995 times between Jan 1, 2012 and March 13, 2020. In fact, if not for the park’s closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the streak might be still be going.

Not Attempting Again

Although Reitz’s streak ended due to circumstances beyond his control, the Disney fan has no plans to try and top his own record.

Reitz says that with the recent increase in the price of an annual pass and the additional burden of trying to get a park reservation, he has no intention of going to Disneyland every day.

“The idea of having to make a reservation, that right there was a big downer,” Reitz said. “I’d go over there after work. And you know, maybe grab a bite to eat, you know, enjoy some rides, or shows … It was nice being able to just pop in at will.”

When Disneyland reopened on April 30, 2021, Disney implemented a new park reservation system.

Now, guests are to book their park visit in addition to purchasing a ticket. This new system, combined with the advent of blackout dates for Disneyland annual pass holders has dampened Reitz’s enthusiasm for visiting the resort.

End of an Era

While some Disney fans will be sad to hear that Reitz’s days of visiting Disneyland every day are over, there is one person who is happy to see he has moved on. Reitz’s girlfriend, Karen Bel, is thrilled to know that her boyfriend now has time for other trips and activities.

“We have time to go take those overnight trips, weekend trips, go to concerts and whatever, wherever,” Bell, 46, said. “It doesn’t have to be within a day’s drive of Disney, so that ‘normal life,’ that’s something we can do.”

Now that Reitz has been immortalized in the Guinness Book of World Records, it remains to be seen if anyone guns for his title. Either way, 2,995 straight days of visiting Disneyland is quite an achievement.
