Matchups Revealed for Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament in Disney World
We know it’s only August, but the holiday season is coming up quick! Even Halloween has already begun, with pumpkins out in the parks and the parties to kick off this week.
As we know, as soon as November 1st rolls around, it will be the holidays in the parks, so it’s a good idea to plan as soon as you can. And now, we know more about a holiday event happening this year!
Holiday Hoops
The first-round matchups have been announced for the 2023 ESPN Events Invitational! The basketball tournament takes place at Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex during Thanksgiving weekend.

The men’s college basketball teams will compete first on Thanksgiving Day. Let’s take a look at who’s playing!
First up, we have the Penn State Nittany Lions vs. the Texas A&M Aggies.

Next is the Florida Atlantic Owls against the Butler Bulldogs…

…followed by the Iowa State Cyclones facing off with the Virginia Commonwealth Rams.

Finally, we’ll see the Boise State Broncos vs. the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Six of these eight teams were in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, including FAU who was in the Final Four (for the first time EVER!).
The teams that win on Thanksgiving Day will go on to play in the semifinals on Black Friday, and the championship game will be held on Sunday, November 26th.
