Space Mountain Was Down This Morning – What To Do if This Happens to You!
It’s a sight nobody wants to see when they fire up the My Disney Experience app: your favorite attraction, marked as “Temporarily Closed.”
This morning in the Magic Kingdom, Space Mountain was unexpectedly closed to guests, but that didn’t stop the line from growing regardless. We’re here today to discuss what this means, and what your options are if you find yourself in this unfortunate situation during your next park trip!
Ok, so picture this scenario. You’re in line for your favorite attraction, and suddenly receive word that it has had to cease operations, preventing you from riding. While this situation is an unpleasantly sticky one, it is an all-too-familiar occurrence at Disney, between technical faults, weather issues, or any other number of “unexpected difficulties.”
So, when you’re in this situation, you’ve got a few options. You can leave the line, losing your place in the queue but allowing you to go and enjoy other, functioning attractions in the meantime.
Or, you can stay in line and wait out the problem, as many, many guests decided to do with Space Mountain this morning!
What you can see in these photos is a large number of guests, forming a long yet formal queue winding through Tomorrowland, all waiting for the iconic coaster to open its doors for launch.
All of these people were most likely aware that the ride was down, yet chose to wait out the closure anyway.
As it worked out, the ride opened up around 9:45am, and these guests were able to experience the attraction as intended. However, what you see here is actually one of the lesser-known gambles that you may find yourself having to make on a Disney vacation!
To explain what we mean by this, these huge crowds were waiting in line despite there being no official confirmation that the ride was due to open later on in the day. They could have been waiting for hours, for the ride to potentially not open at all, or to face being evacuated should further issues have arisen.
Of course, when it comes to Disney, guests are used to waiting for long periods of time anyway. But waiting for a ride that might not even open at all that day? That’s quite the risk!
But, it didn’t stop these guests, and we’re happy to say the gamble paid off for them!
So, next time you find yourselves in a “Temporarily Closed” attraction queue at Disney, be sure to weigh up your options.
Would you want to take the risk and wait it out, or lose your place in the queue to go and enjoy a different attraction in the meantime?
