Sony Pushes Back ‘Kraven’ And Removes ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’ From Release Schedule
With Hollywood shut down due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, and no end in sight, Sony Pictures is making significant release date changes to its upcoming films.
Among the films affected by the change are Kraven the Hunter and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

‘Kraven The Hunter’ Delayed
Originally slated for an October 6, 2023 release, Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven The Hunter is being moved back to August 30, 2024.
Although the film has been completed, Sony wants to wait until after the strikes to release the film.

Insiders say that the move to next year is is vital, as Taylor-Johnson will need to engage in a worldwide press tour. With time ticking, that would likely not be able to happen prior to an October 6 release this year.
‘Beyond The Spider-Verse’ Removed
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse meanwhile has been removed from Sony’s schedule.
The third film in the blockbuster franchise was originally slated to open March 29, 2024. With the union’s on strike, the voice cast cannot complete dialogue recording in time for the film to hit its target.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was a massive success for Sony earlier this year, and proved that the franchise’s first film was no fluke. Sony will obviously re-add Beyond the Spider-Verse at a later date, although when exactly remains unclear.

Other Schedule Changes
Among the other films pushed back by Sony were Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which moved from December 20, 2023 to March 29, 2024.

Likewise a Karate Kid reboot has been kicked from June 7, 2024 to December 13, 2024.
What About Disney?
While Sony is the first major studio to reshuffle its release schedule, other studios will likely follow suit.
Rumors are swirling that Disney’s Wish may not hit its target release of November 22, 2023. Bloomberg reported that Disney is considering pushing the movie back.

The other big question will be The Marvels. Disney’s next MCU release is slated to hit theaters on November 10.
With a star-studded cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris, Disney may want as much publicity as possible.
