Donald Glover and His Brother Are Writing a Lando Series For Disney+
Star War fans have finally been given an update on the highly anticipated Lando series coming to Disney+.
The series was initially announced in December 2020 with Haunted Mansion director Justin Simien attached to the project. The series was set to see Donald Glover reprise his role as Lando Calrissian, a role he inherited from Billy Dee Williams in 2018’s Solo.

While other Star Wars series including The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew, and The Acolyte, have either aired or been added to to the Disney+ schedule, news on Lando remained scarce.
Simien’s Update On The Show
Earlier this month, Simien revealed that even he didn’t know what was happening with the series.

“I certainly poured my heart and spent a lot of time working with them to put together a really great show,” Simien said. “It feels like everybody loves it. And, you know, I was told we had to put a pause on it because of scheduling, and the next update I got [was in 2020], some years ago. So I don’t know, I have no idea what’s going on with it.”
Donald And Stephen Glover Will Write ‘Lando’
According to Variety, brothers Donald and Stephen Glover have signed on with Lucasfilm to write Lando for Disney+.

This news likely means that Simien’s version of the show has been scrapped, as it seems he is no longer attached to the project.
According to the report, the deal was reached prior to the writer’s strike.

For his part, Glover has continued to state that he would love to play Lando again. He had this to say about returning to the character:
“I would love to play Lando again. It’s a fun time, being him. It just has to be the right way to do it. Time is precious. The past couple of years, this pandemic shit, it really had people experience time… People realize their time is valuable. You only get so much. I’m not interested in doing anything that’s going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck. I’d much rather spend time with people that I enjoy. It just has to be the right thing, and I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody I like to hang out with,” he told GQ.
While we may not have a release date or plot for the Lando series, we at least know that the project isn’t dead. That is good news for Star Wars fans.
