Disneyland Paris Put On The Largest Drone Show In Europe to Celebrate Bastille Day
Disneyland Paris achieved a new innovative milestone Friday night, when they surprised guests with a unique Bastille Day nighttime spectacular.
The one-time show was the largest drone show in Europe, featuring 1,495 drones flying simultaneously over Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Celebrating The Connection Between Disney And France
In order to highlight the connection between Disneyland Paris and France, the show combined pyrotechnics, lights, and breathtaking drone choreography.
The 1,495 drones illuminated the night sky, creating some of Paris’ greatest symbols including the French Flag, Eiffel Tower, and an emblematic rose window of the Notre Dame Cathedral.
In case you were wondering the show also featured a classic Disney twist, highlighting Disney and Pixar films with a French connection. Among the films represented through dazzling patterns and vibrant colors were Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Aristocats, and Ratatouille.
A Collaboration Between Disney and Dronisos
The record-breaking show was the result of a four month collaboration between Disneyland Paris entertainment teams and Dronisos, the resort’s official technology supplier and leader in drone shows.
Ben Spaliding, an Entertainment Producer at Disneyland Paris noted that the show was another example in Disney’s legacy of pushing storytelling boundaries.
“Disney has a 100-year legacy as innovators and we’re constantly pushing the boundaries to make our storytelling better and redefine the industries and spaces in which we operate. And what better way to help realize this than with the very talented Dronisos team? I am very proud of all the passionate teams who have worked together yet again to go even further. Onwards and upwards.”
Pushing the Boundaries of Storytelling
Disneyland Paris and Dronisos have collaborated before for Disney D-Light and Avengers: Power the Night. When talking about the collaboration between the two units, Dronisos president was effusive.
“The Bastille Day show, showcasing 1,495 drones, is a remarkable demonstration of the powerful fusion between state-of-the-art technology and highly advanced artistic direction. Together with the teams at Disneyland Paris, we share a common vision: using technology to create enchanting dreams and magical experiences. Bringing this spectacle to life has been an immense pleasure, and we express our gratitude to the Disneyland Paris teams for their trust and collaboration!”
Yesterday’s Bastille Day show was just another example of Disneyland Paris’ commitment to exceed guest expectations and push the boundaries of storytelling and innovation. It was certainly a night to remember.
