VIDEO: Disney Imagineers Head to the Big Easy for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Inspiration
If you’ve been following along with us here at MickeyBlog you’ll know that Disney is currently in the process of re-imagining Splash Mountain at both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. Both attractions will become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure which is inspired by Disney’s film Princess and the Frog.
In the process of coming up with the incredible backstory for the attraction, Disney Imagineers went right to the source and are sharing a new video of their adventures to the Bayou and the Big Easy. Best of all, Joy Ofodu came along for the ride! You can check out the video below!
We loved watching as Imagineers explored what makes the bayou so magical. The team also learns about the history of the French Quarter, pays a visit to the Mardi Gras Museum, and explores some of the incredible art you’ll find in New Orleans. You can also see more highlights from Imagineering’s visit to New Orleans on Joy’s Instagram page. You can check it out below:

For those unfamiliar, the problematic Song of the South theming is out at Splash Mountain and the attraction will feature a new story inspired by Princess Tiana. The princess’ culinary pursuits will be woven into the Bayou Adventure storyline. Guests will be able to see where Tiana’s life has taken her after the events of the film.
As guests queue through Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you’ll discover that Tiana continues to grow her businesses including Tiana’s Foods- an employee-owned cooperative. With this in mind, Tiana purchased a salt mine and the surrounding area. Tiana has transformed the aging salt mine to grow vegetables, herbs, and spices for the co-op and Tiana’s Palace.
Among the highlights, the salt mine will feature a boutique farm and a working and teaching kitchen. At Tiana’s Foods, new products are created including her line of original hot sauces. To celebrate her restaurant and the creation of Tiana Foods, The princess decides to throw the community a massive Mardi Gras celebration! But, after a mix-up, it’s up to guests to help locate the missing ingredients for the soiree
As of going to print, Disney has said that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open at some point in 2024.
