Walt Disney’s Los Angeles Home Is Now Up For Rent
Walt Disney’s former Los Angeles home is now being rented out for $40,000 per month.
The house looks like something out of a Disney film, with its leaded-glass windows, turret, and cobblestone motor court.

Walt Disney originally built the four-bedroom Los Feliz home in 1932, according to Disney historian Todd Regan. He lived there with his wife and family for 20 years.
The property is now owned by Kazakhstan-born film director Timur Bekmambetov.

The director, who lives in Israel, still visits the Los Feliz home a few times a year. He says he is renting it out now because he wants people to be able to experience staying there.
A Historic Home
Walt originally brought his property overlooking downtown L.A. following the success of his Mickey Mouse and Silly Symphony cartoons. While residing in the house, Walt created some of his greatest works including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and Cinderella.

Sitting on roughly an acre, the house retains many of its original features. These include stained glass windows, a spiral staircase, and paintings on the foyer, and high ceilings.
Additionally, there is a screening room in the house where Walt would watch his films.

In the yard, a cottage-style playhouse that Walt gave his daughters on Christmas Day still sits.
Restored By Bekmambetov
When the home last hit the market in 2011, Bekmambetov thought there had been a mistake.

“I called my assistant and said to her, ‘Please call. I think it’s a mistake.'” But there was no mistake, and Bekmambetov decided to buy the home unseen.
The director said that he then used old photos to return to the house to its original appearance, filling it with antiques similar to Disney’s furniture.

Now, Bekmambetov hopes that the house will be rented out to another creative person, who will be inspired by Walt’s legacy.
