Are you ready Ariel fans? Disney’s new “The Little Mermaid” lands in movie theaters in just a few days.
And Disney is getting ready to “shell-abrate” with exciting merchandise in their new Little Mermaid Collection.
What makes this collection unique? Disney fans can enjoy an assortment of new clothing, toys, dolls, and more- all designed with representation in mind.
All Little Mermaid fans and children will know they are valued when they see themselves and their cultures reflected in the new merch!
New Product Launch
This May, a diverse group of creators and their families were invited to an interactive special event and product launch inspired by the live action film.
The special event also included an early screening and surprise guest appearance by Halle Bailey!
Carmen J Smith, senior vice president, Creative Development – Content, Product and Inclusive Strategies, Disney Parks Experiences and Products, Consumer Products, Games and Publishing, and Walt Disney Imagineering shared why these events are so important!
“Inclusion is so important to Disney consumer products, because for us, it’s an opportunity to hear what our fans want and to create products they can relate to.
New Doll Makes Waves
The collection features a new line of dolls by Mattel that is meticulously crafted in the image Halle Bailey’s portrayal of Ariel and already very popular.
“’The Little Mermaid’ is such a beautiful, colorful film and all of the characters are really diverse,” said Launi King, director of product design, hardlines, for Disney’s consumer products division. “That really inspired us to want to go further when it came to the hairstyles that were developed.”
“This completely changed the game for us, and it’s something we’re going to be able to have generation after generation,” Launi added.
