A New Sushi Restaurant is Coming to EPCOT This Summer
Exciting news Disney Foodies! Disney has just announced a new sushi restaurant is coming to the Japan Pavilion in EPCOT at Walt Disney World this Summer!
Once open, Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya, a table service restaurant, will offer Guests “a festive dining experience in a sharable Izakaya-style for you to create memories and good times through flavors.”
One of the coolest parts of this new restaurant is that it will focus on a seasonal Japanese festival each month in a variety of different ways including hanging tanzaku and celebrating Tanabata in July to chowing down on moon-viewing dumplings in September. As an added bonus, a cultural representative from Japan will be on hand to guide Guests through their culinary journey.
The festive touches go beyond the dinner table too. Guests will enjoy their mouth-watering meals in an atmosphere “featuring beautiful, hand-painted artwork and lanterns highlighting some of the natural wonders that Japan offers.” Every Guest will leave Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya with memories that “capture the spirit of Japan’s vibrant seasonal festivities.”
Now, let’s talk about my favorite thing: the food! The menu at Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya in EPCOT will feature sushi (of course!) and teppan items. There will also be an open sushi bar and grill.
The sushi bar gives Guests a chance to watch first-hand as their sushi is prepared all while enjoying a magnificent trellis inspired by the roof of the Phoenix Hall in Kyoto.
Some of the highlights of the menu include the Kobore Sushi which translates to “overflowing sushi” and promises to provide overflow Guests’ tastebuds with flavor. The Kobore Sushi is made with negi toro and nakaochi tuna while elegantly paired with salmon roe and green onion
There’s also the Tokyo Negi Roll which combines green onion tempura rolled with tuna tataki and topped with jalapeno aïoli, shredded carrot, and sliced jalapeno.
The Funamori will be a crowd-pleaser and offers Guests sashimi and sushi arranged on a boat-shaped platter.
Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya also invites Guests to enjoy Japanese Izakaya – a type of casual pub-style restaurant. The Izakaya culture focuses on Guests sharing plates of food while enjoying drinks and having good conversations with friends and loved ones.
Highlights of the Izakaya menu at Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya includes Tomato Salad with Avocado, Karaage Chicken, and Salmon Misoyak.
On the grill, Guests can treat themselves to iconic Japanese dishes including Okonomiyaki – a savory pancake made with a batter of flour, eggs, and water, and then filled with shredded cabbage and bacon, and all topped with tangy okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, aonori, bonito flakes, and pickled ginger.
But, there’s more! In addition to the food and the atmosphere, there’s also the view! Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya is located on the second floor of the Japan Pavilion offering Guests amazing views of EPCOT and those amazing fireworks in the World Showcase Lagoon!
An exact opening date for Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya has not yet been announced. But, make sure to keep it here with MickeyBlog.com as you can count on us to be the first to let you know!
