Learn How Disneyland Paris Works To Be Environmentally Friendly
One of the lesser-known Disney efforts is known as Disney Planet Possible, an initiative that includes “tangible actions we’re taking to put possibility into practice and inspire optimism for a brighter, more sustainable future.”
At Disneyland Paris, for example, Disney has an entire team of cast members who work to reduce the company’s environmental imprint!
Wastewater Treatment Plant
One way Disneyland Paris reduces their environmental imprint is through its wastewater treatment plant.
Since 2013, cast members working in the plant have collected the sewage of Disneyland Paris, treated and cleaned it, before recycling it back into the resort. The recycled water is then used to water plants, clean walkways, and fill up ponds.
Europe’s Largest Solar Canopy
To keep Disneyland Paris as environmentally friendly as possible, the resort is also constructing Europe’s largest solar canopy plant on the guest parking lot.
Maintenance teams then monitor, optimize and regulate electricity consumption throughout the resort. These cast members are responsible for making sure that lights are only turned on when needed, and that every building is at a proper temperature.
Earth Day Activities
For Earth Day this year, cast members were invited to bring their families along to the Disney Davy Crockett Ranch for a variety of educational activities. These included learning more about the biodiversity living in Disney hotels or visiting the beehive that produces Disneyland Paris’ honey.
“Conservation isn’t just the business of a few people. It’s a matter that concerns all of us,” Walt Disney said. And Disneyland Paris is trying to live up to that legacy.
