Walt Disney World Wait Times for Third Week of April 2023
All is right with the world again…or at least Walt Disney World.
After several consecutive hectic weeks, crowds dramatically dissipated.
With Spring Break and Easter in the rearview mirror, we should have several weeks of calm.
Here are the Walt Disney World average wait times for the third week of April in 2023.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
I’ll start this week’s discussion by talking about the price of Disney Genie+. Why am I doing that?
Well, Disney Genie+ cost $35 just two weeks ago and then $25 last week. On some dates this past week, Disney dropped the price to…$15.
Yes, we’re back to the pricing before management switched the cost to date-based. Why would Disney do that?
Alas, this isn’t a permanent move. Instead, it reflects that the Disney parks were what qualifies as empty on a few days last week.
When that happens, Disney drops the price on Disney Genie+ to juice sales. Obviously, it would NEVER do that on crowded dates.
This behavior alone hints at what the crowds were like this past week. You can also tell by examining the average waits at Animal Kingdom:
- Avatar Flight of Passage – 84 minutes, down 25
- Na’vi River Journey – 71 minutes, down 9
- Adventurers Outpost – 43 minutes, down 4
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 38 minutes, down 13
- Expedition Everest – 32 minutes, down 6
- Kali River Rapids – 30 minutes, down 7
- DINOSAUR – 27 minutes, down 2
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 13 minutes, down 1
- TriceraTop Spin – 10 minutes, down 5
Overall, guests waited for an average of 39 minutes, which is eight minutes or 17 percent less than last time.
Also, I’ll add that these wait times demonstrate an unmistakable behavior. The numbers dropped more on the weekend than the weekdays.
When that happens, it’s typically a sign that the following week’s wait times will drop even more.
So, if you’re visiting this week, this is probably great news!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Remarkably, Hollywood Studios handled Spring Break and Easter crowds better than some of the other parks.
That’s surprising since an E-ticket attraction, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster remains offline as it undergoes renovations.
Somehow, Hollywood Studios is satisfying a wide swath of guests despite being down a (major) ride.
You can tell this by the park’s wait times for the past week:
- Slinky Dog Dash – 93 minutes, down 29
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – 84 minutes, down 41
- Toy Story Mania! – 63 minutes, down 16
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 60 minutes, down 29
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 58 minutes, down 19
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 54 minutes, down 14
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 37 minutes, down 12
- Red Carpet Dreams – 37 minutes, down 7
- Meet Sulley at Walt Disney Presents – 32 minutes, down 5
- Celebrity Spotlight – 22 minutes, down 5
- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 15 minutes, no change
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue! – 14 minutes, down 18
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 10 minutes, no change
Overall, the average attraction at Hollywood Studios required a wait of 41 minutes, which is 14 minutes or 25 percent less than the previous week.
We are definitely trending in the right direction right now!
EPCOT
You can tell what’s happening by now. Most families target multiple spots on the late winter/early spring calendar for Walt Disney World visits.
Once Spring Break and Easter end, the parks slow down significantly. On some days, the change is dramatic.
The “crowded” days last week would have been the “slow” days from mid-March through mid-April. It’s a fascinating behavior to track.
You can recognize it even more with EPCOT’s wait times:
- Frozen Ever After – 69 minutes, down 13
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – 69 minutes, down 16
- Test Track – 63 minutes, down 17
- Soarin’ Around the World – 36 minutes, down 15
- Royal Sommerhus – 34 minutes, down 4
- Mission: SPACE – 20 minutes, down 16
- Spaceship Earth – 18 minutes, down 8
- Turtle Talk with Crush – 18 minutes, down 1
- Living with the Land – 13 minutes, no change
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 13 minutes, down 5
- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 11 minutes, down 1
- Journey into Imagination with Figment – 10 minutes, down 5
Overall, EPCOT attractions required an average wait of 31 minutes this past week, which is eight minutes or 21 percent less than last time.
More importantly, unless you wanted to ride one of the big three or meet Elsa and Anna, you wouldn’t have waited more than 20 minutes for anything else.
Magic Kingdom
Okay, here were the average wait times at Magic Kingdom last week:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – 84 minutes, down 30
- Peter Pan’s Flight – 76 minutes, down 17
- Space Mountain – 61 minutes, down 13
- Jungle Cruise – 56 minutes, down 13
- Haunted Mansion – 48 minutes, down 5
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – 43 minutes, down 6
- Pirates of the Caribbean – 43 minutes, down 7
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – 42 minutes, down 15
- Ariel’s Grotto – 41 minutes, down 4
- Princess Fairytale Hall – 36 minutes, down 10
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – 35 minutes, down 8
- Town Square Theater – 35 minutes, down 6
- Astro Orbiter – 34 minutes, down 10
- It’s a Small World – 33 minutes, down 9
- Pete’s Silly Sideshow – 32 minutes, down 8
- Magic Carpets of Aladdin – 28 minutes, down 1
- Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid – 28 minutes, down 8
- Enchanted Tales with Belle – 27 minutes, down 11
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant – 26 minutes, down 13
- The Barnstormer – 25 minutes, down 13
- Tomorrowland Speedway – 24 minutes, down 10
- Walt Disney World Railroad – 19 minutes, down 1
- Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover – 18 minutes, down 5
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic – 17 minutes, no change
- Mad Tea Party – 16 minutes, down 8
- Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor – 15 minutes, down 6
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel – 14 minutes, down 5
- Country Bear Jamboree – 5 minutes, no change
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – 5 minutes, no change
Overall, Magic Kingdom guests stood in line for an average of 33 minutes per attraction. That’s seven minutes or 17 percent less than last time.
To a larger point, no Walt Disney World attraction increased its average wait time this past week. That’s telling.
