VIDEO: Watch the First Trailer for Disney’s ‘Wish’
Who’s ready for Disney’s next original animated film?
Wish will open in theaters on November 22nd, featuring an original story inspired by Disney’s 100th anniversary. The first teaser trailer was released this morning, so let’s go over everything!
Trailer for Wish
First of all, just look how gorgeous this movie is! The art style combines both computer animation with Disney’s classic watercolor animation, and it’s truly something.
Wish is set in the land of Rosas, known as “the kingdom of wishes,” located off the Iberian Peninsula.
The story was written by Jennifer Lee, whom you may remember as the writer and co-director of Frozen and Frozen 2. Her Frozen co-director, Chris Buck, is also the director of Wish, alongside co-director Fawn Veerasunthorn.
Wish features Asha, voiced by Ariana DeBose, as our hero, along with her pet goat Valentino, voiced by Alan Tudyk.
Chris Pine voices King Magnifico, the powerful king of Rosas, who seems to be the newest Disney Villain.
According to Chris Buck, “People come from everywhere to give their wishes to a magical king who promises to grant their deepest desires—someday. Only he can decide which wishes will come true and when.”
Asha senses a darkness in her kingdom, although no one else in her community seems to feel the same way.
Perhaps in an effort to save her kingdom, Asha makes a wish on a shining star, which introduces us to another character…
…known as Star, a “little ball of boundless energy.” So cute!
Together, Asha, Star, and Valentino must work together to save their land from King Magnifico.
Watch the first trailer below, which also features a small snippet of the song “The Wish,” performed by Ariana DeBose.
