National Treasure: Edge of Darkness Cancelled After 1 Season
National Treasure: Edge of History has been canceled at Disney+ after just one season.
The show, which was based on the “National Treasure” film franchise, originally debuted last February.

National Treasure: Edge of History, followed the adventures of treasure hunter Jess Venezuela, who learns about a centuries-old treasure possibly connected to her father.
Lisette Olivera, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Zuri Reed, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues, Jake Austin Walker, and Lyndon Smith were also among the cast.

A One Season Run
The show was created by Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, who wrote the firs first two National Treasure films.
Additionally, National Treasure producer Jerry Bruckheimer returned to executive produce Edge of History.

Although Disney doesn’t release viewership numbers, National Treasure: Edge of History was largely panned by critics and fans alike.
Disney Has A Streaming Problem
The cancellation of National Treasure: Edge of History points to a larger problem for Disney.
Outside of its Star Wars and Marvel properties, Disney has had a difficult time creating new series for Disney+ with any lasting power.

Fellow Disney+ original series “Big Shot” and “Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” have also been cancelled recently.
While Disney has certainly found success with Star Wars series such The Mandalorian and Endor, as well as Marvel shows Loki, Moon Knight, and WandaVision, creating original content has proved to be difficult.

With the end of National Treasure: Edge of History, all eyes will turn to Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The upcoming Disney+ series based on the popular Rick Riordan novel series.

With a strong built in fan base, and high expectations, it will be imperative for Disney that the show succeed.
