A Dearth Of Original Shows
Currently outside of Star Wars and MCU, Disney only has five ongoing, live-action original shows. Doogie, Highschool Musical the Musical National Treasure and The Santa Clauses are still going strong, and Willow could be renewed for a second season.
Big Shot’s Cancelation Comes As No Surprise
Big Shot starred John Stamos as Mavyrn Korn, a former college basketball coach who takes a job an an elite private high school for girls.
The cancelation of Big Shot was no surprise. In June, insiders reported that the decision to renew the show may have led to the ouster of longtime Disney executive Peter Rice.
Additionally, John Stamos had already signed on for a role in the upcoming Amazon pilot Open Book.
No Bombay No Renewal
The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers on the other hand was a revival of the popular film franchise of the 1990s. While Emilo Estevez reprised his role of Mighty Ducks coach Gordon Bombay in the first season, he did not return for Season 2.

In place of former coach Gordon Bombay, new youth hockey coach Alex Morrow (Lauren Graham) was leading the team into an intense summer hockey camp.
With Bob Iger recently announcing that Disney would be leaning more heavily into its tent-pole franchises, it remains to be seen if the company can supplement its Marvel and Star Wars shows with other successes.
