Disney+ Basic is Finally Available on Roku
After months of waiting, Disney+ Basic (With Ads) subscribers can finally stream their favorite shows on Roku.
Disney+ Basic initially launched on December 8, 2022 as a cheaper alternative to Disney+ Premium.
The new service marked the first time that ads were added to the Disney+ platform. Previously, only one Disney+ subscription was available, and it was ad-free.
Not Roku Compatible
When Disney+ Basic initially launched, it was available on Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Playstation, and Xbox.
The glaring omission from the available platforms was Roku.
The reason for the delay in Disney+ Basic coming to Roku revolved around distribution agreements.
According to insiders, Disney couldn’t reach a new agreement with Roku, which has 65 million active users, in time for the initial launch.
Before the latest development, Roku users had to purchase Disney+ Premium if they wanted to watch their favorite shows.
What Does Disney+ Basic Give You
Disney+ Basic costs users $7.99 a month and includes many of the same features as Disney+ Premium.
In addition to Disney’s massive library, Disney+ Basic users can create their own profile, stream simultaneously on four devices, and stream high-quality video formats.
The only difference between the two subscription options is that Dinsey+ Basic includes ads. Both Disney+ Basic and Disney+ Premium can also be bundled with Hulu and ESPN+.
