Dave Filoni Says ‘The Mandalorian’ Team Has Considered Having Grogu Talk
When The Mandalorian originally debuted on Disney+ back in 2020, “Baby Yoda” took the world by storm.
The adorable young foundling and his eventual relationship with Din Djarin would propel The Mandalorian to new levels of popularity.
Eventually, fans of the show learned that Baby Yoda was actually Grogu, a 50-year-old former Jedi youngling.
Will Grogu Talk?
As Grogu has continued to grow and his backstory has been further explored, many fans have wondered if Grogu will start talking soon.
In Season 3 of The Mandalorian, Grogu may not have uttered his first words, but he is much more expressive.
According to executive producer Dave Filoni, the show’s brass, including creator Jon Favreau, have discussed what Grogu talking would mean for the character.
“We talk about how much would that change him or how much do we change him?” Filoni continued. “We really like him how he is. It’s hard. It’s a great question. It’s definitely something we think about and you know, I think it depends how much farther we go forward. I don’t know.”
Jon Favreau Will Decide
In the end, however, Filoni says the decision will fall on Jon Favreau.
“You know, I leave all that stuff to Jon, really. I’m very protective of the character as far as being Jon’s brainchild, literally,” Filoni said. “I advise and obviously have been a big part of that creation.”
Grogu talking would certainly be a big change for the character. While it may be a natural development, it would also change how fans view the widely popular character.
