Kingpin Will Reportedly Have an Overarching Story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
With Daredevil: Born Again on the horizon, Marvel may be on the brink of a new release spanning story.
According to reports in the upcoming show, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk (aka Kingpin) will return and attempt to become the mayor of New York City.
First reappearing as Kingpin in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, D’Onofrio is set to reprise his role in the upcoming Daredevil reboot; however, that may not be his next appearance.
Reports state that Fisk’s quest to become mayor will actually begin in Echo, which will see Alaqua Cox reprising her role as Maya Lopez from Hawkeye.
After Echo, Fisk could appear again in other non-Daredevil MCU projects, including Armor Wars, Captain America: New World Order, Thunderbolts, and Ms. Marvel.
Jumping to the MCU
D’Onofrio originally portrayed Kingpin in the now non-cannon Daredevil series on Netflix. The character then reemerged in Hawkeye, where the mobster seemed to meet his end off-screen. With a slew of upcoming appearances on the docket, however, it appears as if Kingpin may be alive and well.
Since the original Daredevil series, not only has Kingpin been incorporated into the MCU, but his nemesis Matt Murdock/Daredevil has also made the jump. Charlie Cox first reprised his role as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He then guest starred in two episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
Daredevil: Born Again will see Kingpin and Daredevil butting heads once again in an 18-episode revival of the original series. As of now, the show is expected to debut in early 2024.
