Construction Update: DVC Tower at the Poly Taking Shape
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you’ll know that big changes are happening over at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. The former location of the Spirit of Aloha dinner show has been demolished to make way for a new Polynesian Resort DVC Tower.
For months, we’d bring your regular updates from the construction site but with little to know noticeable signs of construction.
However, over the last month, that has all changed!
Huge cranes are now in place along the coast of Seven Seas Lagoon as the concrete foundations for the DVC tower can be seen.
Though this is a welcome sign for many Disney fans as the construction will bring more villa options to the deluxe monorail resort, those staying at the Poly in the weeks/months ahead will want to take note.
The Polynesian Resort DVC Tower is part of a massive refurbishment over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort that has seen rooms refurbished, new hard and soft furnishings in the lobby area, a new entrance/porte cochere, the remodeling of Kona Cafe and more!
The new Polynesian Resort DVC tower is expected to add 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom villas providing more options for Disney Vacation Club Members.
We expect additional amenities to be added including more dining options, extra pools and more.
At the moment the DVC building looks as if it encompasses six floors.
But it looks like additional levels are in the works.
This makes the tower a drastic departure from the other buildings at the Poly which are 2-3 stories high.
You can see the difference in size when looking at the building to the right in the picture above.
With part of the beach at the Poly already taken up by the over-the-water-cabanas, it looks like lakefront access will be more limited due to the DVC tower.
Disney has yet to announce an official opening date for the DVC tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
However, this is a story that we will continue to follow closely and promise to keep you posted.
Here’s a quick video we took of the construction site from Disney World’s monorail!
