“The Rock” Teases ‘Jungle Cruise’ Co-Star Emily Blunt at the Oscars
Disney’s Jungle Cruise pairs Emily Blunt with Dwayne Johnson, aka “The Rock,” for an epic adventure down the Amazon. Yesterday, it seemed as if no time had passed at all, as the dynamic duo comically reunited at the 95th Oscars.
The Jungle Cruise premiered in the summer of 2021. Based on the iconic Disney Parks ride, it follows Dr. Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) as she enlists skipper Frank Wolff (Dwayne Johnson) to guide her downriver.
The two make for an amusing pair with Blunt portraying a serious researcher, and “The Rock” wisecracking throughout the story. Speaking of which, teasing seems to be a running theme with these two, as seen yesterday at the Oscars!
Blunt and Johnson were there to present Best Animated Feature Film together. During a chat with Entertainment Tonight, Johnson saw Blunt giving her own interview nearby.
After “The Rock” called out to her, Blunt made her way over. Johnson jokingly stated, “So, they were just asking me ‘Who’s the most talented, most brilliant actor you’ve ever worked with’?”
Blunt kidded, “Nicole Kidman, where is she?” Johnson was quick to correct her, saying, “No, no. I said, Emily Blunt. Isn’t that right?”
Emily shockingly quipped, “Well, that’s incredibly nice. Have you worked with any other actresses?” The Rock replied, “None that I care about after you, no.”
In the past, Johnson’s referenced that he “always admired her (Emily Blunt) as an actor” and appreciated her “cool and very, very charming” personality. So much so, according to “The Rock”, he personally went out of his way to convince her to join the Jungle Cruise.
He shared, “I wanted to let her know via this video just how important she was to this movie and how I only wanted her in this movie. And it was great.”
Last year, we shared that Blunt and Johnson were collaborating on a plot for Jungle Cruise 2. We hope to see the pair reunited soon for another epic adventure!
