Another Pixar Fave Lends a Hand in EPCOT Parking Lot
For the past few years, EPCOT’s complete reimagining brought new attractions, eateries, stores, and a complete rebranding of the theme park. In true Walt Disney Imagineering form, even the parking lot received new iconography.
Known for his highly inquisitive eyes and curious personality, Wall-E popped up yesterday on signage in the EPCOT parking lot. Just as he helps save Earth in his heart-warming Pixar film, Wall-E will now hopefully help guests to find their vehicle after a long day of exploring.
The futuristic font that defines the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow now also appears painted on the rows of the lot with corresponding markings to the colorful signage.
Previously, the lot utilized inspirational words like “Imagine” to define the regions of the enormous parking lot.
Work on the lot appears to be moving along quickly, which makes sense considering its role in next weekend’s runDisney festivities. The runDisney Princess Half Marathon festivities begin Thursday, Feb. 23rd and run through Sunday with the marquee race.
Interestingly, Wall-E is the first character to debut in the new signage that does not hold a special place at EPCOT. Previously, Rocket (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), Crush and Dory (“Finding Nemo”) along with Moana and HeiHei (“Moana”) all appeared on new markers. These characters also feature in attractions at the park.
Still, Wall-E entirely fits into the park’s tomorrow-centric theme and emphasis on space exploration in World Discovery. Hopefully, this detail serves as a bit of foreshadowing of what’s to come too.
