Podcast: Nick from MagicalNewsLive Shares His Story
The newest installment of the MickeyBlog Podcast is now live! You can listen to it from wherever you get your podcasts. In this podcast, Nick from MagicalNewsLive shares his story: how he got started as a Disney YouTuber, his journey as a Disney Cast Member, and what might be next for him in his Magical Career. Also, a special PSA from Jared about sitting on benches at Disney…
When Nick was just 13 years old he dreamed up hosting a newsy YouTube channel about Disney News. He decided he wanted to share Magical News and to line up his channel with other news programs, he was wanted to add “live” to the name, despite never intending to “go live” as YouTubers do these days. Thus, @MagicalNewsLive was born in 2017.
Since then, Nick and his family moved to Orlando (not far from Magic Kingdom!) and began streaming in the parks. Currently, his channel boasts nearly 24,000 subscribers. That’s no small feat!
When Nick was little, his family vacations were always to Disney. While other kids might have gone on cruises, to tropical destinations, or other hot spots for travel, his mom’s job as a Travel Agent specializing in Disney Vacations made for annual trips to Disney (for work research). From that, Nick and his brothers were basically born to Disney.
Nick moved with his family in 2019 to Orlando and as soon as he could become a cast member at 18 (literally, on his 18th birthday), he started working for Disney. Now there are a lot of “Disney YouTubers” out there, but Nick is really special because of the way he gives back.
Every year, Nick hosts a live stream to raise funds for the Vascular Birthmark Foundation (VBF). Each year, Nick goes live for a special holiday event and encourages viewers to donate to VBF to support families with children born with vascular birthmarks.
These families are able to get treatment for their children and learn more about vascular birthmarks from leading doctors in the field. Nick was born with a Lymphatic Malformation and the first several years of his life were filled with questions, doctor visits, surgeries, and more.
Obviously, Nick has a bright future. Disney has so many opportunities to grow and advance! Who knows, maybe one day he’ll be in Guest Relations… giving VIP tours to stars from around the world. Or maybe, just maybe, we’re looking at the next Chairmen of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products? Watch out Josh D’Amaro!
