Disney Parks Celebrate Premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water With Special In-Park Offerings
Opening weekend for Avatar: The Way of Water is finally here and Disney parks around the globe from Disney’s Animal Kingdom to Tokyo Disney Resort are celebrating. Here are some of the ways you can join in the festivities and celebrate the film!
Walt Disney World Resort
Since 2017, Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has brought the magic of James Cameron’s original film Avatar to life. There’s the delectable menu items at Satu’li Canteen, adventurous attractions like Avatar Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey. If you’ve yet to visit Pandora then make it a must-do during your next Walt Disney World visit.
For a limited time, the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park awakens in the evenings with an all-new experience. This new story sequence joins the Holiday Awakenings and Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Beacons of Magic, illuminating the iconic Tree of Life with the magic of nature.
The AMC theater in Disney Springs ran screenings of the original Avatar film in September and is also the place to go at Disney World to check out the sequel. Opening nights at AMC typically include special perks like photo-ops, backdrops and more!
Disneyland
Yesterday, guests to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure were treated to a film release-day pin!
Tokyo Disney Resort
There’s a myriad of fun ways to celebrate Pandora at Tokyo Disney Resort. This includes tasty treats and larger-than-life statues. Head over to the Lost River Delta area in Tokyo DisneySea to pose with the Jake and Neytiri sculptures pictured above.
Once you work up a hunger, head over to the Yucatan Base Camp Grill (also located in the Lost River Delta) where you’ll find a limited-time menu that features both a dessert and drink inspired by Avatar: The Way of Water. Options include a rooibos tea soda with jelly, elderflower and passion fruit syrup with cacoa nibs that represent the soil of Pandora!
There’s also the special dessert, pictured above. Its served on an Avatar-themed plate and features a blue-colored vanilla mousse, matcha sponge cake, almonds, strawberry chocolate and is garnished to look like the forests of Pandora!
IKSPIARI Shopping Mall is also getting in on the fun with decorations inspired by the film.
Shanghai Disneyland
China held a star-studded premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water which was hosted at the Walt Disney Grand Theater on December 12th. It was followed by an exclusive breathtaking Avatar-themed projection show that lit up Enchanted Storybook Castle. Ending the night were specially designed fireworks that spelled AVATAR.
Shanghai Disneyland’s Tomorrowland also has an immersive exhibition called Avatar: Explore Pandora. This is the first ever Avatar-themed touring exhibition hosted at a Disney park. Here’s fans and newbies can experience the magic of Avatar firsthand!
Most importantly, be sure to head to the theme parks to check out Avatar: The Way of Water in theaters. Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), and the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure
Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for further Walt Disney Word news and updates. We’ll be coming to you LIVE! from the theme parks each and every week.
