Exciting Changes Announced for Genie+ Lightning Lane Reservations at Disney World and Disneyland
I have an update about to share about Genie+ Lightning Lanes and this time, it’s a good one! Guests using the Genie+ option at both Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort will soon be able to make changes to their Lightning Lane selections without having to cancel your current selection.

The always-reliable Scott Gustin posted on Twitter, when this change goes into effect on the My Disney Experience app for Walt Disney World and Disneyland app next week, it will be a game changer for anyone who might want to modify theier current Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation for a different attraction or time. Currently, if you want to make a change, you would have to cancel your reservation first and then select a new one which could cause you to lose your reservation altogether if no times are left during the time it takes you cancel and rebook.

One cavet to this update will be that you will only be able to modify their Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations to other attractions at the same park their original reservation was made for. If you are looking to cancel your reservation at the park you are currently at and make it for another park, you would have to then cancel and rebook.

For example, if you have a reservation for Peter Pan at the Magic Kingdom and you decide you want to make a change to that Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation, you would have to pick a new time for Peter Pan or select another Magic Kingdom attraction to make your reservation for. You would not be able to change your Peter Pan reservation to Millenium Falcon at Disney’s Hollywood Studios without cancelling and rebooking.
In addition to being able to modify your Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation time, when this change goes into effect next week, you will also be able to change the number of Guests in your party for your reservation.

It’s important to note that these changes only apply to Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations – NOT Individual Lightning Lane reservations. Guests at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland will still not be able to modify their reservations for Individual Lightning Lane reservations.
