Paradise Pier Renovation Begins With Sign Removal
Disneyland has begun the renovation of Paradise Pier by removing one of the signs from the side of the hotel!
In addition, workers have been seen adding primer to the side of the hotel. This covers up the existing yellow and blue paint on the hotel exterior.
It was announced in April that Disney would be renovating the hotel.
In May, Paradise Pier Hotel cast members were treated to a theme announcement party.
The special guests at the party were Buzz and Woody, and balloons were everywhere in Pixar colors.
So cast members were the first to know that the new hotel theme would be Pixar!
Renovation timing
We have not been given an exact timeline for the renovation.
However, our MickeyBlogger in chief, Greg Antonelle, was told at the hotel yesterday that lobby renovation would begin next week.
And Goofy will be leaving the lobby since he’s not on theme.
As you can see in these photos, the sign has been up so long that there is a dirt ring embedded into the side of the hotel in the shape of the logo.
But one of the signs is still up – on the other side of the hotel!
What to expect
We don’t have a whole lot to go on for the renovation.
But we do know a few things!
Obviously, the theme will be Pixar.
Disney says that, “Guests will gain a new perspective on some of their favorite Pixar worlds and characters.”
This is to come through carefully curated artwork and decor.
Based on an artist rendering, we believe that Goofy will be replaced in the lobby by the Pixar ball with the Pixar lamp balancing on top.
The artist rendering also shows a beautiful stained glass mobile hanging from the lobby ceiling.
It looks like characters including Nemo, Dory, Coco and one of the monsters from Monsters, Inc. is included in the mobile.
We’ve been told that the hotel will be renovated in sections, and that all of the rooms and the pool would be renovated.
Based on the artist rendering, the lobby and the exterior will also have renovations.
What has been done so far
In addition to the sign coming down, Paradise Pier has begun other renovation work.
The pool deck was recently updated. The pool will also be renovated.
There is now a walkway from Paradise Pier Hotel over to Disney California Adventure.
For early entry to California Adventure, walk from Paradise Pier to the Grand Californian, to then use the Grand Californian entrance to California Adventure.
We’ll keep you posted on the progress of the renovation of Paradise Pier Hotel!
