Celebrate World Plant Milk Day in Galaxy’s Edge!
August 22nd is World Plant Milk Day and we want you to know that you can celebrate with a Blue or Green Milk at the Milk Stand in Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
What is Plant Milk?
Plant milk is referring to any creamy style beverage that is plant-based.
Plant milk can be made from coconuts, rice, almonds, soy, cashews, or oats. Despite the word “milk” in the name, there is zero dairy in it!
Apparently Disney World isn’t the only place where magic is created, scientists have found ways to create milk-like beverages out of plants!
Plant milk is plant-based and is vegan friendly. You don’t have to be lactose intolerant or a vegan to enjoy plant milk!
All About the Blue and Green Milk
Blue Milk is referenced in multiple Star Wars canon books, shows, and in Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
The blue colored milk is made from the mammary glands of a female bantha and found on most planets in the galaxies. Blue Milk can also be referred to as Bantha milk and Tatooine milk.
What is it?
Disney World is taking up for the poor maltreatment of Banthas, and in the fight for Bantha rights Disney has decided to create a plant-based version of both Blue and Green Milk.
The Blue and Green Milk at the Milk Stand in Galaxy’s Edge on Batuu is made from a blend of coconut and rice milks and citrus and floral accents.
The consistency is like the blend of a milkshake and a smoothie. It’s cold, refreshing, and a little thick.
What Does it Taste Like?
The Blue Milk is said to be more “floral” in flavor. In truth, it’s a very light sweet flavor that is fresh and different.
The flavor is one that is difficult to place because of its subtlety, but overall, it is surprising in both texture and its refreshing nature.
Disney describes Green Milk to be a citrus-like flavor and we honest to goodness have no clue what they tasted because there is nothing citrus about it.
Florida is the land of citrus, and we know citrus. While the Green Milk has the same texture as the Blue Milk, we almost didn’t notice because of the insane tang of the drink!
Green Milk is very artificial tasting, almost to the point that it is like a chemical flavor. Maybe it’s just the intense color, but it felt more like toxic sludge than the refreshing Blue Milk.
Want to Make Your Milk a Little More Adult?
For guests 21 and over can even make their Blue and Green milk a little more adult by adding alcohol!
Blue Milk can have rum added for a kick, and Green gets a splash of tequila, which feels appropriate: crazy liquor for the crazy milk flavor!
In our opinion, the non-alcoholic version of Blue Milk tastes better than the version with the rum, and the tequila addition to the Green Milk actually improved the flavor. Go figure!
