Legendary Actor James Caan Has Passed Away at the Age of 82
It is with a heavy heart that we here at MickeyBlog share the news that Hollywood Legend James Caan, best know for his roles in The Godfather, Misery and Elf has passed away at the age of 82.
An official tweet was sent out by Caan’s family which we’ll post below:
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6.
The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.

Caan will be best remembered for his role as Sonny Corleone in The Godfather. Sonny was the oldest son of Vito (who was played by Marlon Brando.)
Other well known roles include in Rob Reiner’s Misery where he starred alongside Kathy Bates and the role of Walter (Buddy’s Father) in the beloved holiday film Elf.
In the Disney-sphere Caan is known for his Spuds Spaldoni in the 1990 film Dick Tracy.
Disney rumor has it the Caan was also in the running for the role of Scar in the original animated version of The Lion King but would eventually lost out to Jeremy Irons.
Caan was married and divorced four times and is survived by daughter Tara and sons Scott, Alexander, James and Jacob.
