Workers United Local 50, which represents Disneyland
Cast Members has been reviewing a new attendance policy proposed by Disney. The union took to their official Facebook page last week to announce that The Walt Disney Company was making changes to the tardiness policy as you can see from the post below:
Yesterday, the company shared an update to say that they met with Disney and reviewed the policy. They were quick to stress that this is just the beginning of talks around this issue and that the union plans to negotiate with Disney over the impact and request that changes to be made. This means that this may not yet be the final policy.
According to Chris Duarte, Local 50 Vice President, Disneyland plans on doing away with their current attendance points system. Rather infractions will be tracked as a TOTAL of unexcused time of missed work.
The policy regarding tardiness will vary according to the job with different occurrences for Full Time, Casual Regular and Casual Temporary cast members. The initial guidelines as recommended by Disney are as follows:
- Full time – 16 hours to trigger or 3 tardies
- Casual Regular – 12 hours to trigger or 2 tardies
- Casual Temporary – 6 hours to trigger or 2 tardies
According to Disney it will be possible to supplement sick time to NOT receive an infraction for tardiness provided that an equal amount of time to be supplemented. The new policy also states that continued absences will no longer count as only one infraction.
We expect more updates to follow. Readers are encouraged to keep checking back with us here at
