Avatar: The Way of Water Teaser Trailer Beats Out Star Wars For Number of Views in 24 Hours
With the first Avatar film having come out in 2009, insiders were wondering if the appetite would be there for a sequel over a decade later. If the recently released trailer is anything to go by, the answer is a resounding yes!
The first teaser trailer was released for James Cameron’s sequel titled “Avatar 2: The Way of Water” debuted online on Monday. After 24 hours, the film had generated 148.6 million views online. This included 23 million from China alone! This is according to a recent piece in The Hollywood Reporter.
So how does the trailer stack up when compared to other big movie teasers? F:9 generated 202.7 million views online in 24 hours. Black Widow earned 116.8 million and Rise of Skywalker 112.4 million.
Cameron’s sequel, hits theaters on December 16th. Favorite characters Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) return and the plot centers around their family and the lengths both characters go to keep each other safe.
In addition to the stars listed above, Sigourney Weaver is also back as Dr. Grace Augustine and Stephen Lang returns as Colonel Miles Quaritch. New additions to the cast includes Vin Diesel and Kate Winslet.
