Our Favorite Disney Film “Easter Eggs”
We’ve got a different sort of Easter Egg hunt on this holiday weekend. As most of you know Easter Egg hunts also refers to fun little moments that film creators squeeze into their projects that provide hidden references, clues, inside jokes, or tips-of-the-hat to other films and characters.
With that in mind, we’ve rustled up some of our favorite Disney films with Easter Eggs that we absolutely love. So curl up on the sofa. Grab your remote control.
Enchanted
Hidden Mickey Dress – Next time you watch Enchanted pay close attention to Giselle in her blue dress that was made from curtains. There’s tiny pink flowers adorning the dress and upon closer inspection they bear a striking resemblance to the one and only Mickey Mouse.
Cars
Those watching a Cars movie will see one of Pixar’s biggest Easter eggs right in front of your eye.. Lightning McQueen’s number is 95 and it’s not random. 1995 was the year when Pixar’s first full-length feature film Toy Story debuted.
Up
If you’re a Pixar film buff you’ll know that one of the things that Pixar likes to include in each of their films is the Pizza Planet truck which is again another tip-of-the-hat to the Toy Story films. A perfect example is in UP in the scene where Carl’s house flies over the city. Next time you watch the film, take a close look at the traffic and you can see the Pizza Planet truck.
Moana
During the scene where Moana is confronted by those crazy little Kakamora, you’ll notice that Disney gave each of theme different faces. Look closely and you may notice one that looks just like Baymax from Big Hero 6.
Finding Nemo
There are a TON of instances of Nemo and Friends showing up in other Pixar films. One of our favorites is in Monsters Inc. when Nemo (the beloved clown fish) makes an appearance as a friendly toy in Boo’s bedroom.
WandaVision
If you’ve already scene WandaVision than you’ll know that one of the biggest surprises of season 1 features a big reveal around neighbor Agatha. Next time you watch the series pay attention to Agatha’s brooch. In Episode *, we find out that she stole the brooch from her mother. The brooch depicts three women. Agatha can be seen wearing this brooch throughout Series 1 no matter what series she’s in!
Luca
In the film Luca set on the Italian Riviera, you’ll notice a poster for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea which is displayed at the cinema in Portorosso.
The Book of Boba Fett
Throughout the series, Star Wars fans with a keen eye will notice some familiar droids that make cameo appearances in the film. There’s a card-dealing RX-Series similar to DJ/Star Tours in Chapter 1 as well as a 8D8 as Bobba Fett’s translator.
Free Guy
This beloved Ryan Reynold’s film is jam-packed with Easter Eggs. My favorite is when Guy (Reynolds) helps a little girl. Notice what she’s wearing. It’s Anna’s dress from the beloved Walt Disney World film Frozen.
