Clever Coasters Honor Vintage Disney World Tickets
As “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” continues at Walt Disney World Resort, the ever-popular Vault Collection of merchandise also just keeps surprising us with new, unique collectibles. At Port of Entry today, these vintage coasters really caught our attention. With a modern design, the coasters use the park’s original attraction tickets as their inspiration.
In the earliest days of Magic Kingdom, guests purchased entry to the theme park for a small fee. Then, they purchased tickets for attractions seperately. The coveted “E” ticket presented the biggest investment for park goers but also was required for the park’s most popular attractions. As shown on the coaster, those attractions included it’s a small world, Jungle Cruise, and the Haunted Mansion.
The $24.99 collection of five coasters presents a range of colors in muted greens, yellows and oranges. The same vintage shades feature on much of the Vault Collection offerings. Each letter ticket first sold also gets its own special plate.
The ticket design stays consintent throughout each coaster, keeping with the tickets’ traditional patterning and typography. The coasters definitely offer a solid conversation point as Magic Kingdom veterans can chat about which attractions received top billing, which still remain, and which are now memories of Magic Kingdom days gone by.
For example, a number of park favorite classics featured on the original “C” ticket as well as a couple of now extinct attractions at Walt Disney World like Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. Luckily, fans of that nostalgic attraction can still experiences that adventurous and sometimes slightly scary ride-on attraction at Disneyland.
We spotted the coaster set at Port of Entry, a popular merchandise location at World Showcase in EPCOT, alongside a few other Vault Collection favorites. The coasters make a stellar keepsake to use either in their intended purpose or as trinket trays.
