Storms, Technological Challenges Impact Hundreds of MCO Flights
Massive thunderstorms swept through the Orlando area yesterday, causing delays and cancellations of hundreds of flights yesterday at Orlando Interntaional Airport. Today, people continue to attempt to reschedule flights both in and out of the area with technological issues compounding the challenges for one airline.

According to multiple reports, more than 300 flights using Orlando International (MCO) found themselves cancelled yesterday. Weather caused widespread issues. Southwest specifically had a massive technological issue not relating to the storm. It caused the cancellation of over a thousand flights across the country.

“We are experiencing flight disruptions across our network today due to briefly pausing our service earlier this morning as we worked to resolve an intermittent technology issue, as well as ongoing weather challenges impacting multiple areas within our system,” Southwest Airlines said in a Tweet yesterday.

No Storms Today, but Flight Issues Continue
Fox35 Orlando reporter Stephanie Buffamonte visited the airport to observe people attempting to reschedule their flights. “ABSOLUTELY INSANE! It took me 2.5 minutes just to walk from the front of the line at the Southwest ticket counter to the end at #MCO. Hundreds of flights have been canceled & some people cannot get another flight until Wednesday. #Southwest is dealing with tech & weather issues,” Buffamonte said in a tweet this morning.

At least those impacted by weather and not flying out on Southwest appear to be having better luck getting home (or to) their Spring Break destinations.
