Disneyland Removes ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’ From Announcements To Be More Inclusive
According to a recent piece that appeared on FOX35, guests may hear slightly different theme park announcements next time you’re visiting Disneyland in California.
As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, the company has made the decision to remove gendered greets from the theme parks to accommodate those visiting the parks that might not identify with tradition gender roles.

This change was recently confirmed by Disney’s diversity and inclusion manager Vivian Ware who told City Journal that “ladies and gentleman” or “boys and girls” will no longer be heard in the park’s traditional morning greetings. According to FOX35, Ware said, “We trained – we provided training for all of our cast members in relationship to that. So now they know it’s ‘Hello, everyone,’ or ‘Hello, friends.'”
Guests may also notice this change at other theme parks including the fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom. Ware went on to say that this same approach is being taken in the way that cast members interact with guests. For example and according to Ware, “We don’t want to just assume because someone might be, in our interpretation, may be presenting as female, but they may not want to be called ‘princess.'”
In some instances, these changes have been gradual with some already implemented at the parks as early as last Summer. Below is a video of Disney removing “Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls” from the Happily Ever After pre-show announcement at Magic Kingdom.

This is just one of the many steps that Disney is taking to create more inclusion within the theme parks. Disney has also recently been in the news for being an opponent and calling for the repeal of the “Don’t Say Gay” bill which was recently signed into law by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
