How to Dine at Space 220 With NO Reservation!
Space 220 is by far the most difficult reservation to secure at WDW right now. It’s not a surprise: the combination of both attraction-level immersion and very cool space-themed food has everyone excited…but what should you do when you can’t secure a reservation?
We recently dined at Space 220 without a reservation…and believe it or not…it was a very easy experience once we learned how to approach it!
No Reservation? Just Jump in Line!
There are not one, but TWO ways you can secure a walk-up seat at Disney’s most popular restaurant. If you don’t have a reservation, you’ll want to jump in the stand-by line right outside of the restaurant’s check-in area.
When you do, a Cast Member will ask if you want to wait for a seat at the bar, or if you want to be added to the walk-up list for a table in the restaurant. No matter which you choose, it’s all the same space, meaning you’re guaranteed a trip up on the space elevator and a seat with views of earth!
Walk-Up Bar
The ONLY way to sit at the Space 220 bar is by joining this walk-up queue. The queue is not virtual, so in order to hold your spot you’ll have to wait in a regular queue-style line. The bar seating grants you the most options of any seating option when it comes to food and drinks at Space 220.
When seated at the bar, you can order the full pre-fixe lunch or dinner that is served to guests with reservations, you can order a la carte items from the lounge menu, OR you can simply order a cocktail (or non-alcoholic mocktail)!
All three of these options are available at the bar, and we think it’s the way to go if not everyone in your party wants a full pre-fixe or if you just want to check out the restaurant and grab some space-themed drinks!
Walk-Up Table Service Seating
If the bar isn’t for you, or you’ve got young guests in your party, you can also walk up and add your name to a wait list for the lunch or dinner seatings! If you arrive at Epcot early in the day before Space 220 opens, I learned from a Cast Member that the restaurant actually gives away canceled lunch and dinner reservations on a first come, first serve basis.
On the evening we visited, there was NO WAIT for a walk-up dinner seating! We witnessed two parties walk up, ask for a table, and were immediately seated. That might not always be the case, but the lesson here is that Space 220 is very accessible if you don’t have a reservation…you just have to know the right way to go about it!
